Teaching ASL to Kids

Making it Natural

Sunday, February 1, 2009

When we first started learning signs I thought it might be best if we could use them day-to-day. So we learned words like: please, thank-you, yes, no, more, sit down, quiet, sorry, bathroom, help and eat. The kids were quick to start using these words during snack or outside time, they especially liked being able to ask to go to the bathroom from across the room. I still encourage the kids to use sign whenever they can in our routine, especially outside of our ASL time.
